Closet Makeover
Closets are always a point of contention for our clients. Home builders rarely make closets large enough or functional for the average family. More often than not the vertical space in a closet is not used due to poor design and construction. We recently worked on a clothes closet in one of our client’s homes that has a good design in terms of the use of vertical space, however the volume of clothes did not match the storage ability and clothes were bursting out of the closet. In fact, the back of the entry door to the room was also being used to hang clothing as there was just no space in the closet anymore. This particular client has difficulty editing her clothes without intervention and requested our assistance to help with the process and make it less painless and frustrating. Here is what the closet looked like before we began the organizing process:
Although not an efficient and functional space when clothing and accessories are jammed and piled high inside, it’s often amazing for us to see just how much people can actually fit into one small closet. In this project we kept pulling items out of the seemingly endless space inside. Once removed, sorted and categorized it was incredible for our client to see just how much she had actually crammed into that small space. Of course, she couldn’t see much of what she had in there, nor could she find what she was looking for and there were many exclamations of “wow, so that’s where that was!” or “hey, I’ve been looking for that for ages!” It always puts a smile on my face. Once we went through all the items, sorted according to type and category (ie: handbags, shirts, dresses, etc.), edited out what was no longer relevant in terms of fit, style, etc., we were left with a reasonable amount of clothing and accessories that this closet could well accommodate.
After we reorganized the space everything could be seen and was easily accessible, the client was happy, we were happy and even the clothes and accessories were happy because they could now breathe! Another happy ending.

Great job! I used to have a two-rod system like the one shown – it was excellent for making good use of the space.
